Imaging system

An award-winning, piezo-driven, nano-step LCD imager combined with a set of custom designed diffraction-limited telecentric lenses results in an imaging system capable of unprecedented sharpness and stability. No moving parts during the exposure and Aaton’s proven ‘in-the-film-plane’ pulldown, result in sub-pixel stability across the whole frame – frame by frame.

Calibration and stability

A built-in 16K CCD reflex analyser monitors gamma, exposure, flat field, and focus between scenes or reels by measuring the image directly in the film plane. This means there are no cumbersome densitometry or calibration runs going through the laboratory, plus there is a clean separation between film recorder and laboratory for quickly identifying the source of any recording abnormalities.

Light source

The virtually maintenance-free LED light source is bright enough to expose any film stock to full density without slowing down the recorder. A separate 650nm and 700nm red LED gives complete flexibility in recording onto camera negative, intermediate stock or print.
