Baselight Product range

The full Baselight range shares a common feature set, and offers scalable and upgradeable solutions for the entire digital intermediate and video grading workflow:

Baselight EIGHT:
maximum bandwidth, ultimate efficiency

Featuring 96TB local storage capacity, Baselight EIGHT provides the performance and allows you to play and grade multiple 4K streams in real-time. Doubling the power of Baselight FOUR, the Baselight EIGHT enables real-time grading of 4K scans or multiple real-time 2K streams and is ideal for a high-end grading suite for commercials or film grading. Baselight EIGHT includes Blackboard.

Baselight FOUR:
unique multiple processing

Offers up to 48TB of storage by distributing the workload across multiple processing nodes. An advanced multi-node architecture accelerates all the features of the standard Baselight system; synchronisation is ensured at all times via FilmLight’s video combiner hardware, allowing all nodes to work simultaneously on the same image. Blackboard and the Dual/Single link HD/SD SDI ingest and playout is included as standard, enabling an efficient real-time HD and 2K grading workflow including background ingest and layoff.

Baselight HD:
high-productivity video grading and finishing

Comprises a formatted 16TB disk, four quad core processors, audio and SD/HD video ingest and lay-off. Baselight HD is designed for fast, creative video grading and finishing, but, with no resolution restrictions, can also be used as part of a film pipeline with the addition of Truelight. The Blackboard control surface is supplied as standard.

Baselight ONE:
affordable and reliable

This self-contained system grades and plays back 2K and video material, utilising two quad core processors and a graphics card, while offering 12TB of RAID storage. Like all members of the range, Baselight ONE can be directly connected to a SAN.

Baselight Transfer (BLT):
digital telecine solution for RED-based projects

A low cost near-set and post-production solution for rapidly viewing, grading, and transferring REDCODE RAW camera content, to editable dailies or online conforms. Consisting of a 5U 16TB RAID5 chassis, the BLT is a stand-alone system and incorporates Baselight’s powerful conform and primary grading toolsets, four quad core processors, GPU acceleration, three Compact Flash (CF) card readers and Truelight colour management.

Baselight Kompressor

Baselight Kompressor provides easy interoperability between Baselight grading operations and Avid® editing systems without ever needing to copy media—it enables Baselight to connect to Avid Unity|ISIS storage systems and exchange native MXF content.

Blackboard

When working with the real-time power of the systems, the combination of Baselight ONE, HD, FOUR and EIGHT with Blackboard redefines the digital colour grading suite and results in a powerful toolset that enables migration to a flexible, feature-rich software colour grading solution.

Baselight Assist

Available as an add-on to Baselight FOUR|EIGHT, Baselight Assist performs set-up and background tasks such as conform, QA, noise reduction, setting looks, as well as shape creation and tracking.

Upgrading

All members of the Baselight systems can be upgraded through the range with minimum disruption. In addition, because all grade information is held independently of the images in an external database, it is simple to add more Baselight systems of any power to work collaboratively on the same project.

Plus, because Baselight utilises standard PC hardware, individual systems can be upgraded with new hardware at commodity prices.
