The macOS version of 5.3 continues to work with Media Composer 2024.12 and later on Intel Macs, to run this version on an Apple Silicon Mac you must make sure to set Media Composer to 'Open using Rosetta'; use Finder to get the info for the Avid Media Composer app and set this option.
